(floats between Feb. 25 and March 1): Ayyám-i-Há, or “Days of Ha,” are devoted to spiritual preparation for the Fast, hospitality, charity and gift giving. They are celebrated during the four or five days before the last month of the Baha’i year.
The Ascension of ‘Abdu’l-Baha
When He passed away at the age of 77 on November 28, 1921, in Haifa, Israel (then Palestine), His funeral was attended by 10,000 mourners of numerous religious backgrounds. In spontaneous tributes to an admired personality, ‘Abdu’l-Baha was eulogized as One who led humanity to the “Way of Truth,” as a “pillar of peace” and the embodiment of “glory and greatness.”
The Day of the Covenant
‘Abdu’l-Baha, (1844-1921), the beloved son of Baha’u’llah, God’s Messenger for this era, played a unique role in not only the Baha’i Faith but in all of religious history. This festival celebrates Baha’u’llah’s appointment of His eldest son, ‘Abdu’l-Baha, as the Center of His Covenant.
The Birth of Bahá'u'lláh
Bahá’u’lláh (1817-1892)—the “Glory of God”—is the Promised One foretold by the Báb and all of the Divine Messengers of the past. Bahá’u’lláh delivered a new Revelation from God to humanity. Thousands of verses, letters and books flowed from His pen. In His Writings, He outlined a framework for the development of a global civilization which takes into account both the spiritual and material dimensions of human life.
The Birth of the Báb
The Báb (1819-1850) - a title meaning "the Gate" - is the Herald of the Bahá’í Faith. In the middle of the 19th century, He announced that He was the bearer of a message destined to transform humanity’s spiritual life. His mission was to prepare the way for the coming of a second Messenger from God, greater than Himself, who would usher in an age of peace and justice.
